Sifting through the rubble of broken dreams
A teacher here, a writer there
Squandered opportunity
Didn't measure up
Searching for a reason to keep dreaming
Bad choices, blocked paths
Bills to pay
Oil sludge washed up on the shore
Standing aside so many times
As people clamored by
Taking pieces with them
Leaving nothing to stand against the slide
Grasping for a shred of comfort, a little self-indulgence
Continue trudging up the hill
Mud stuck on boots of dread
Expecting to be buried
At last, just sit and wait for promises
While hair grows gray, then white
When the sun glints gold
Upon the mountain of wisdom
Rising all around.
Finding the common notes in food, mediation, writing, languages and other creative endeavors.

A Prayer for Writers
Lord God Almighty and Everlasting Father, Creator God, who said and continues to say, "Let there be..." and there is,
Holy Spirit, the muse of God, who inspired and continues to inspire writers,
Lord Jesus the Messiah, the Logos of God, who speaks and is the most excellent Word of God in the flesh,
by Your Grace grant to me the time, energy and will to write;
by Your Grace grant to me an angel of muse to bring to me inspiration, ideas and words to write;
by Your Grace grant to me the ability to put on to paper the words you have put in my heart and mind;
that those who hear and read these words would find healing and inspiration and love in them.
Amen
